Seeing the Human Behind the Role
Supporting organisations to understand the lived experience of work, beyond policy, performance, and compliance.
Organisations are increasingly investing in workplace wellbeing through policies, frameworks, and support services. Yet many employees still struggle to speak openly, feel safe, or access meaningful support.
My work explores this gap, between what is in place on paper, and how it is actually experienced by the people within it.
My work is grounded in doctoral research into employees’ lived experiences of workplace counselling, explored through an existential lens.
It offers organisations a deeper understanding of how psychological risk, culture, and support systems are experienced in practice, not just how they are designed.
What often emerges is a disconnect between compliance and lived experience.
Organisations may have the right structures in place, yet employees can still feel unable to speak openly, uncertain of support, or concerned about how they are perceived.
Understanding this human dimension is essential for creating workplaces that are not only compliant, but genuinely safe and supportive.
Beyond Compliance
Compliance can document psychological risk, but culture determines whether people feel safe enough to speak up.
The effectiveness of any wellbeing initiative is shaped not only by what is offered, but by how it is experienced.
Psychological safety is not created through policy alone. It emerges through trust, leadership behaviour, and the everyday experience of work.

Workplace Counselling
Alongside this work, I provide workplace counselling for employees, bringing an understanding of both individual experience and organisational context.
This allows for a more integrated approach to supporting people within the realities of working life.
If you are interested in exploring how your organisation’s approach to wellbeing is experienced in practice, I’d be happy to have an initial conversation.
